An open meeting between people of Bukha and Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production to inform citizens about the latest developments in Musandam Gas Project

Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production (OOCEP) organized an open meeting with Bukha citizens at Bukha club sports in the presence of HE Sheikh Saif bin Abdullah Maamari , Wali of Bukha and the people of the Wilayat . The meeting aimed to extend the horizons of communication between the company and citizens by updating citizens on the latest developments of the project.
Engineer Khalifa bin Abdullah al Makhmari, Deputy Manager of Musandam gas Treatment Plant Project gave a presentation yesterday on phases of the project where he mentioned the establishment of Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production which is specialized in the upstream business of the oil and gas sector. He also pointed out that the company has multiple assets and diversified interests in the field of exploration and production both within and outside the Sultanate. Then he shed light on the plant where he pointed out that Musandam gas Treatment Plant Project is aimed to transfer production of Bukha fields located in the Arabian Gulf off the Wilayat through a pipeline under the sea to the plant.

The project comes as an implementation of the strategic plans of the Government to provide gas to produce electricity, contribute to future gas dependent industries in the Governorate, as well as the establishment of an infrastructure for the use of gas in power generation in the Governorate. The project will also provide employment opportunities for national cadres from the Governorate and neighboring areas.

Then he pointed out that Bukha field -in the marine concession area (8) – began production in 1994, and west Bukha field started production in 2008.

After that he talked about the schedule of the project, and the phases of the project as the first phase includes civil and construction works and the second phase includes construction of the plant and its facilities, the third phase includes the operation of the station where it will start trial operation in January 2014, and the actual operation of the plant will start during the first half of 2014.

After presenting the phases of the project the floor was opened for inquiries and remarks.
