Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production and Shell Exploration B.V sign Block 42 Heads of Agreement

26 April 2017 – MUSCAT, Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production LLC (“OOCEP”) and Shell Exploration B.V have signed a Heads of Agreement (the “HOA”) to collaborate on Oman Block 42 (the “Block”). The HOA was signed for OOCEP by Isam Bin Saud Al Zadjali, Chief Executive Officer at Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C., and for Shell by Chris Breeze, Shell’s Country Chairman in Oman.
Under this HOA an initial aerial study will be carried out, before potentially undertaking further and more focused activities in the Block. Read More

Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production successfully exported the first shipment of crude oil from the newly constructed MGP Terminal

Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production LLC (OOCEP), a subsidiary of Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C (OOC) has successfully completed the loading of the first shipment of crude oil that was fully processed at Musandam Gas Plant on, 4th of May 2016. The tanker “TSURUGA” safely lifted approx. 300,000 barrels of crude from (Musandam Terminal for crude oil export). The tanker departed the Single Point Mooring upon the successful completion of the loading operation. which marked a major achievement for OOCEP and for Oman as a whole. Read More

BP deepens commitment to Oman; to extend licence and develop second phase of major Khazzan gas field

BP and Oman Oil today signed a heads of agreement with the Government of the Sultanate of Oman committing to amend the Oman Block 61 exploration and production sharing agreement (EPSA), extending the licence area of the block and enabling a further development of the major Khazzan tight gas field. BP is the operator of Block 61 with a 60% interest and Oman Oil holds the other 40%.

Under the amended EPSA, the extension will add a further over 1000km2 to the south and west of the original 2,700km2 Block 61. The extension will allow a second phase of development, accessing additional resources in the area that have been identified by drilling activity within the original block. Development of this additional resource is subject to final approval of the Government of Oman and of BP; both expected in 2017. Read More

Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production (OOCEP) announces the start of first gas & condensate production of Block 60 (Abu Tabul)

On Thursday 15th of January 2015, OOCEP announced the commencement of commercial export of Block 60 tight gas & condensate from the Abu Tabul Field in an official ceremony held at the field under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Advisor to His Majesty and in the presence of other Highnesses, Ministers, Undersecretaries, and several senior Government officials.
This follows after the start of commissioning of the newly built Gas Processing Plant on 23rd September and the processing and export of unconventional tight gas into the Government Gas System – for the first time in the country’s modern history. The state-of-the-art processing plant – an estimated $1 billion investment made this far in the project – expected to reach a plateau production of 70 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) by the end of this year. Along with gas, the facility will also produce condensates averaging 6,000 barrels per day (bpd) around the same timeframe. Read More

OOCEP Block 60 operations herald new era of unconventional tight gas production
Oman’s first tight gas project set to come on stream

MUSCAT – In a landmark development for the Sultanate’s pivotal hydrocarbon sector, Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production LLC (OOCEP), the upstream subsidiary of the Sultanate’s energy investment arm, Oman Oil Company, is preparing to bring its Abu Butabul tight gas field in Block 60 into commercial production, thereby becoming the first Omani operator to add unconventional tight gas to the nation’s expanding gas base. Last week, the company began commissioning its newly built Gas Processing Plant at the start of a long exercise that will culminate in the production, processing and export of unconventional tight gas into the Government Gas System – for the first time in the country’s modern history.
Full commercial operations are slated around October-end with the state-of-the-art processing plant – the centrepiece of an estimated $1 billion investment made thus far in the project – expected to reach a plateau production of 70 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) by the end of this year.
