Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production LLC (OOCEP), a subsidiary of Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C (OOC) has successfully completed the loading of the first shipment of crude oil that was fully processed at Musandam Gas Plant on, 4th of May 2016. The tanker “TSURUGA” safely lifted approx. 300,000 barrels of crude from (Musandam Terminal for crude oil export). Under the amended EPSA, the extension will add a further over 1000km2 to the south and west of the original 2,700km2 Block 61. The extension will allow a second phase of development, accessing additional resources in the area that have been identified by drilling activity within the original block. On Thursday 15th of January 2015, OOCEP announced the commencement of commercial export of Block 60 tight gas & condensate from the Abu Tabul Field in an official ceremony held at the field under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Advisor to His Majesty and in the presence of other Highnesses, Ministers, Undersecretaries, and several senior Government officials.
This follows after the start of commissioning of the newly built Gas Processing Plant on 23rd September and the processing and export of unconventional tight gas into the Government Gas System – for the first time in the country’s modern history. The state-of-the-art processing plant – an estimated $1 billion investment made this far in the project – expected to reach a plateau production of 70 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) by the end of this year. Oman’s first tight gas project set to come on stream
MUSCAT – In a landmark development for the Sultanate’s pivotal hydrocarbon sector, Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production LLC (OOCEP), the upstream subsidiary of the Sultanate’s energy investment arm, Oman Oil Company, is preparing to bring its Abu Butabul tight gas field in Block 60 into commercial production, thereby becoming the first Omani operator to add unconventional tight gas to the nation’s expanding gas base. Last week, the company began commissioning its newly built Gas Processing Plant at the start of a long exercise that will culminate in the production, processing and export of unconventional tight gas into the Government Gas System – for the first time in the country’s modern history.

On Tuesday 11th of October 2011, the Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement for Block 42 was signed at the Ministry of Oil and Gas between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production LLC. His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, Minister of Oil and Gas signed the agreement on behalf of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman.
